The joint Buck-Levin laboratory is in the Department of Pharmacology which is part of Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences at Weill Cornell Medicine. Drs. Levin and Buck first collaborated to purify and clone the bicarbonate-regulated soluble adenylyl cyclase (sAC). We joined our research programs into a single laboratory studying sAC and other bicarbonate-regulated enzymes. sAC represents a source of the second messenger cAMP distributed in the cytoplasm and at specific organelles within cells, and our laboratory studies compartmentalization of cAMP signaling and sAC-defined cAMP microdomains.
