Natalia Rivera Sanchez

Pharmacology PhD Graduate Student

I was born and raised in Salinas, Puerto Rico. After graduating high school, I obtained my B.S. in Natural Sciences at the University of Puerto Rico in Cayey. My undergraduate research at Dr. Maria de Jesus Burgos lab focused in studying the interactions of estrogen receptors and metabotropic glutamate receptors in dopaminergic neurons. In 2016 I also had the opportunity to work as a summer research intern at Dr. Laura Sanchez laboratory at the University of Illinois-Chicago and in 2018/2019 at Dr. Thomas Kash laboratory at UNC Chapel Hill. In 2020 I enrolled in the Pharmacology Ph.D. program at Weill Cornell and joined the Levin/Buck laboratory. When not at lab I like to paint, sing, and dance "bomba", a folklore Puerto Rican dancing style.
